Nestled in the historic heart of the Russian River Valley, the property at Russian River Vineyards is truly one of a kind. With origins dating back to the 1890s, the iconic estate was built on the foundations of small-scale family farming. Over time, the old family farmhouse became a roadhouse. An old Hop Kiln style building became a winery. And as the burgeoning wine industry entered California, the pioneering property became home to one of the region’s first vineyards. However, during the 1990s this special place was left behind,
and all but forgotten...
In 2008, a group of individuals embarked on a total restoration of the historic site. Together with their team, founding partners Chris O’Neill, Barbara Sattler, Giovanni Balistreri and Anthony Austin have thoughtfully and sustainably restored a sense of place here.
Today the vibrant property at Russian River Vineyards offers guests an unparalleled experience of “terroir” with world-class wines, served in an award-winning ambiance. In all of our efforts, we focus on community and take a sustainable approach to caring for the land. After all, the property has been used for agriculture for more than 130 years, and we intend to keep it going strong. As a team, we are always learning in our endeavor to become the best wine country property that we can be today, and in the future.
