Nestled in the rolling hills of western Sonoma County, Marimar Estate specializes in limited- production Chardonnay and
Pinot Noir, estate grown and estate bottled from organically farmed vineyards. Built in 1992 with a capacity of 15,000 cases,
the Catalan-style winery sits on a hill surrounded by vines. State-of-the-art equipment allows the control essential for
producing a wine with minimal handling.
The 4th Torres generation dedicated to wine, Marimar Torres was an ambassador of Spanish wines in America for many
years before living her dream of running her own vineyard and winery in California. Born in Barcelona, Spain, she moved
to California in 1975, began planning the first vines in 1986, and built the winery in 1992. Given Marimar‘s heritage, the vineyards
are totally European in style, with a high-density planting of over 2,000 vines per
acre. The wines are truly an expression of their exclusive terroir.
The vineyards have been organically farmed since 2003, are CCOF certified, and now are also biodynamic. Marimar is a firm
believer that such practices are better for the life of the vineyard. “We are creating an ideal balance between the vines and
nature; the vineyard is ecologically healthier and the grapes are of higher quality. That‘s our long-term reward.” The Pinot
Noirs, while uniquely Californian, reflect the expertise of three centuries and many generations of the Torres family
dedicated to excellence in wine growing.
